Wow McCain - I’ve finally regained a little of the respect I once had for you, the rascal reform-minded maverick.

Reports are that Palin is someone who single-handedly cleaned up Alaska’s messiest political scandals while conceiving and giving birth to son Trig, a Downs Syndrome baby. Her oldest son Track is on his way to Iraq. She named one of her daugher’s “Willow”. I though only movie stars could name their children this way….?

When the news of Palin’s appointment was announced we learned in the same report about the controversy surrounding the new VP nominee over the firing of Alaskan Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The investigation concerns allegations that Palin may have abused her power by pressuring for the dismissal of Monegan because of his refusal to fire an Alaskan state trouper embroiled in a nasty divorce with Palin’s sister. That’ll give us something else to watch next week as the commentary unfolds.

It is a smarty-pants, in-your-face choice by McCain, who is clearly disgusted by the success of Obama, someone he considers vastly unsuited for the presidency. Rolling the dice by placing a pro-life, ultra-conservative political novice on his ticket I think will prove a major gift to us Obama supporters.
