It’s back to the future for the United States!
Anti-science, no reproductive rights for women, no meaningful line between church and state - to the dark ages: the McCain/Palin ticket. See this article published today in the Irish Times titled, “Palin the latest torch bearer for anti-science.”
And then there’s this perspective offered by Jonathan Freedland article in the Guardian titled “The World’s Verdict Will be Harsh if the US Rejects the Man it Yearns for” forwarded by a friend. The article further darkens the picture of the consequences of a McCain/Palin victory on the worldstage. It’s overwhelming to imagine.
In spite of reporting like this one from NPR about the lies she’s telling, crowds continue to cheer Palin’s speeches.
We can only hope that people will take a hard look before voting for the super Nationalistic/Fundamentalist Christian ticket the McCain/Palin ticket represents. The quote in the above referenced Irish Times is worth repeating: Sinclair Lewis in 1935 said, “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
